T&T Dictionary: Cote ci Cote la

Well I real love this dictionary by John Mendes.  I love it so much I have two (hard cover & soft cover).  Ok, not everyone who visit Mauvais Langue:Random Commesse! is ah Trini, so I will post the meanings of the Trini slangs here each time ah happen to use one.  Go out and buy Cote ci Cote la, it sweet to bad, each time I read it I’m LMAO.

  1. Mauvais langue.  Pronounced Moh-vay-lahng. French – Bad tongue.  To ill-speak someone.  To gossip about someone.
  2. Brabadaps – A nasty fall.
  3. Commesse – Confusion asociated with arguments.  Wheeling and dealing.  Gossip and slander.
  4. Yuh done know – Now, you know.  I’ve just told you.  Now you’re up-to-date.
  5. Ketch (Catch)
  6. In Bobol – Several persons involved in dis-honesty and covering for each other.
  7. Bacchanal – Public row, scandal, quarreling.  Confusion.
  8. Maco (ing) – Pronounced – Mah-co.  To observe maliciously, to spy on, especially to gossip about it later.
  9. BEH-BEH – A foolish person.  One who talks and does a lot of nonsense.  Also used as EH BEH-BEH.
