The crime continues in Trinidad.  When will it stop?

Here’s my list of the good and the bad.

The Good

• Enjoyed two days in Tobago which was absolutely wonderful. 
• Customer service in Tobago was top-notch.  Everyone was pleasant and the food was GREAT! 
• La Vita Spa, again their service was excellent and Crystal is the best!  She’s the queen of wax.
• The Spa at Woodbrook, again their service was also excellent.  Mary is the queen of facials and Gail is the queen of body scrubs, massages, and manicure & pedicure.  I felt like a new person.
• Lunch at Shanghai was nice.  I enjoyed the food.
• I did some shopping at MovieTowne.  Kudos to all the sales rep at all the stores.  They were all pleasant. 
• Snappers restaurant in Trincity mall their food and customer service was great!
• Special thanks to Tricia.  She’s the queen of braids.  The best part she makes house calls. 
• It rained everyday and I enjoyed it!

The Bad

• Customer service at TSTT in Trincity Mall stinks, especially at the information desk. 
• Where was the Trincity mall security?  One of the entrances to the mall had too many teenagers sitting on the stairwell and blocking the doors to the mall.  These idiots were actually sitting in front of the door and would not even move so you can enter. 
• Why was the Irish pub in Trincity mall so crowed with teens liming?  Don’t they have an age limit to enter into these pubs?
• For the five days I was in Trinidad I saw a car accident everyday, each resulting in death. 
• There’s too much underage drinking and smoking.
• Why was airport security agents on their cell phones?  The ones at the check point areas where you scan your carry-on.  Management at the airport is POOR .

As usual I saw extreme dotishness, but is Trinidad so anything is expected. 

Overall my trip was wonderful and relaxing.  I enjoyed the time I spent with my family and friends.

Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar has introduced a new order of things.  In her inauguration speech she said, “This morning we leave the labels behind and we move forward as one nation – all committed to the same goal – a safer, more prosperous and just Trinidad and Tobago where we all have opportunity and equality.  No more labels.  No more prefixes of Afro and Indo nor North and South nor East West corridors.”  Yes, I do believe change has indeed come!

Persad-Bissessar’s victory speech

1. Is PM PM till yuh dead.
2. Yuh does put on yuh red shirt and rally fuh PM PM strong.
3. Yuh know PM PM feeding yuh bull shit, but yuh go eat it anyways.
4. Crime and corruption is the hottest trend and yuh cyar get enough of it. 
5. Yuh does leh PM PM shake yuh hand and kiss yuh baby when he in yuh neighbourhood.

I re-enrolled into college to finally finish my degree and on top of that I enrolled for a second degree, needless to say it’s endless assignments and studying.

I’m here in and out of it.  I’m hoping to post once a week starting this weekend. 

Sidenote: I feel like a whale.  I need to lose at least 85lbs.  Stay tuned for that.  I will be posting my progress and photos too!!

Is there any hope and change for T&T?  Racism in Trinidad blinds the way to vote for any change that might be for the better or good of the country.  Trinidad is being spoon fed bull shit by the present government and yet they are still in power.  They are robbing the country of its wealth and filling their pockets, while the poor suffers.  The hospitals and schools are lacking basic supplies.  The police untrained and uneducated.  They protect and serve not the people, but the people who are threatening the lively hoods of the law-abiding citizens.  Crime is at its highest.   The government offices are a joke and customer service stinks.  The people refuse to follow the laws of the country.  Are there any laws?  There’s still a slave mentality in Trinidad.  Serve the white man and kiss his ass and treat your own skin color like crap.  I mean good grief, could it be any more blatant.  The things I heard and  saw while I was there made me think twice about returning to live. 

I’m going to be very honest, if it wasn’t for my family still living in Trinidad, under no circumstances would I return.  So much for my hope and change.  I’ve become, ‘one of them’ who think they are too righteous to return to Trinidad, because I am living in another’s man land and obeying his laws…*sigh*

That’s my rant of the day!

Please note:  My issues, concerns, and observations does not apply to everyone in Trinidad.  There are people who want change, who treat paying customers with respect, who serve all without prejudice, who adhere to the laws, (the little that we do have) and who are tying to better the country.  Kudos to you!
